The Ledger: Overcoming Problems Part of Life for CFAA Student Rhett Fitchett
Really, truly, he is inspiring to all the students here. On a daily basis, the challenges he has to overcome are absolutely phenomenal, and yet he does it with poise and grace and never complains. He is thrilled to be here every day.
The Ledger: CFAA Science Teacher Lori Bradner Headed to Norway
Central Florida Aerospace Academy Science Teacher Lori Bradner is heading to Norway to establish a sister school. She was invited after meeting the teachers, administrators and museum curators last year at Sun n' Fun.
CFAA to experience zero gravity and "Spiders in Space"
CFAA is currently awaiting word regarding a student designed project to be flown this summer on one of NASA's Reduced gravity Flights. NASA will be announcing 80 schools across the nation that will be participating. CFAA is also awaiting word regarding an application to concurrently conduct a "Spiders In Space" project with the International Space Station. The Orb spiders will be flying with the STS-134 scheduled to launch in April.
CFAA to Host Space Camp for Educators
This summer, CFAA will be hosting the first ever Space camp for Educators Polk County in collaboration with the Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama and Kennedy Space Center. This is a phenomenal professional development opportunity open to K-12 educators in the Polk County School District. It shows Dr. Sherrie Nickell's, Superintendent of Schools, her administration and the Polk County School Board's commitment to STEAM education: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math.
CFAA Receives Grant to Start Rocket Club
CFAA was awarded a Gammons Charitable Foundation grant to start a student lead Rocket Club. In May, 12 teams of students will be competing in a school wide Rocket Competition. The winners will be competing this summer in a national rocket competition.
