The Academy of Leadership and Business at Fort Meade Middle/Senior High School provides students with the opportunity to develop a solid foundation of leadership through an introductory course and then explore the areas of Fine Arts, Health Science, Hospitality, Digital Design and Agriculture. Students hone their leadership skills in action by emersing within their chosen elective and become servant leaders within the school. In addition, students become mentors to elementary age students through the Trendsetters program.

GACT offers students practical experiences in creating and publishing maps, designing apps and performing spacial analysis. Students will gain practical, hands-on knowledge while doing real-world projects to prepare them for the work force. GIS can be the foundation for services that rely on analysis, visualization and distribution of data in the fields of engineering, planning, transportation, utilities, law enforcement and multiple other business applications.

The foundation class for this Academy is Introduction to Information Technology. The next Class will be your choice of either Entrepreneurship or Legal Aspects of Business depending on your area of interest. Finally, you will finish with Business Supervision. Dual enrollment with PSC will be offered for the final classes. Your Program Completion will qualify you for PSC credits as well as scholarship money AND an interview with GEICO. Job opportunities include Sales, Service, Claims, Auto Damage Adjusters, Underwriters, IT Professionals, Human Resources, College Recruiters, Accounting, Actuary, and Marketing.

Kathleen High School’s Distrotek Academy is a joint partnership with Room’s To Go. The Distrotek Academy provides students with skills for the workplace in the area of distribution, supply chain management, and marketing. In the process of their studies, each student will be challenged to become an effective and professional employee.
