The George Jenkins Medical Academy, is nationally accredited model academy, designed to prepare students for an entry level medical job or for continued education in a medical career. It is a minimum three year course of study with multiple tracts. Student may choose one or more of the following courses: EKG Technician, Allied Health, or Emergency Medical Responder, all of which all include Industry Certification (EKG Technician, Phlebotomy and EMR respectively). There are articulation agreements with Polk State College which allow the student to earn up to 6 credits.

Winter Haven High School's Medical Academy is a multi-year program. Students study Anatomy and Physiology and continue their education learning about professional behavior and communication, HIPAA, legal and ethical issues, blood borne pathogens, health insurance and more. They are able to perfect their basic medical skills like blood pressure, CPR, first aid, basic assessment skills, phlebotomy and how to perform an Electrocardiogram throughout the program. Upon graduation, students will have the necessary skills and national certifications to obtain entry level employment as a health care professional.
