Workforce Education, a division of Polk County Public Schools, is excited to announce the WE3 Expo at The Lakeland
Center! The purpose of the WE3 Expo is to inform parents and students about career‐ education opportunities offered in our
middle and high schools. Polk County Public Schools has joined forces with local businesses and industry professionals to
create this event.
The date of this event is November 1, 2011 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM and November 2, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Admission
to the Expo is free! Therefore, family, friends and the community at large is welcome to visit.
School & District staff will be on hand to demonstrate and discuss career & technical programs as well as Career Academies.
Over 100 booths will feature various career‐education programs in public schools throughout Polk county including:

This is a time to explore your options and ask questions. Career Academies also provide a choice in education.
Students are able to transfer to an academy that appeals to their career interest. Many Career Academies allow students
to earn college credit while in high school and qualify for the Gold Seal scholarship (part of the Bright Futures
program). Internship and industry certification opportunities are also available.

School Registration
Workforce Education invites you and your Eighth-Grade students! This event is a forum to educate
Eighth-Grade students with their high school opportunities in all CTE Programs and Career Academies.
Funding Opportunities:
We realize this is a collaborative effort and Workforce Education is prepared to finance the following
expenses through the Ford Grant to encourage your participation:
- Substitute teachers: Workforce Education, Ford Grant, will pay for the applicable substitutes
(1 teacher per 25 students; Guidance Counselors and Administration are encouraged to attend as well)
- Transportation: Workforce Education will schedule the appropriate bus transportation
Attendance Provisions
- Chaperone: 1 teacher per 25 students
- Meals: please make arrangements with your school cafeteria for boxed lunches to be eaten at your school
- Operation: Session 1 (9:00 am to 11:00 am) and Session 2 (11:00 am to 1:00 pm)
- Student Restrictions: Must be a current Eighth Grade Student
- Transportation: Workforce Education will schedule the appropriate bus transportation based on the
information provided in your registration
